Introduction to the Study

In Spring 2014, Berrien Springs ELL students in Grades K, 1 and 2, all of whom have received GrapeSEED training, were tested using the World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) assessment. In this report, English language proficiency scores are reported for each grade level for each of the four language domains and three composites as follows:

  1. Listening
  2. Speaking
  3. Reading
  4. Writing
  5. Oral Language (Listening 50%, Speaking 50%)
  6. Literacy (Reading 50%, Writing 50%)
  7. Combined (Listening 15%, Speaking 15%, Reading 35%, Writing 35%)
