It’s “GrapeSEED Day” in Bridgeport-Spaulding Schools!
Do you know a teacher or administrator who is interested in getting more information about GrapeSEED? If so, have them join us for GrapeSEED Day in Bridgeport-Spaulding Schools on Thursday, January 28, 2016. Teachers, administrators, Principals, Title 1 Directors, ESL/ELL Directors, and Curriculum Directors who are interested in seeing a GrapeSEED class in action are welcome to visit a GrapeSEED lesson, talk to GrapeSEED teachers, and talk to the principal about GrapeSEED. Please feel free to send this link, http://grapeseed.com/grapeseed-day, to anyone you know who is interested in GrapeSEED so that they can sign up and choose a time to visit on Thursday, January 28, 2016.
Did you know…
Over time, some GrapeSEED teaching methods have changed due to updates on best practices and research. Depending on when you received your initial Foundation Training, these items may only be a quick reminder for you. Check out some of the methods that are more productive and help students learn even more. If you have questions about any of the changes, please ask your trainer.
Big books should be sung once and read once for each exposure.
When air writing phonograms, hold your arm completely extended with 2 fingers in the air. As you air write the letter, say the sound toward the end of the letter, spread your fingers to make the number two as you say the second sound (if there is one), and count the third and fourth sounds as appropriate by raising your third and fourth finger.
Check out the video of Daniel modeling the Unit 3 Phonograms.
Consider being “hands free” during Action Activities. Post the Action Activities on your white board or bulletin board, or you can set them on your big book stand, easel, or somewhere similar so that you can fully participate and model the actions in the Action Activities.
You can introduce the student books and the DVD to the children after 3 exposures with the teacher materials.
Students should have 20 exposures to every teaching tool in a unit before you move on to the next unit.
