Students Enjoy Making Real-World Connections Using GrapeSEED Language

Published: December 07, 2016

Students from Ms. Manzella’s first grade class at Clintondale Community Schools in Michigan had fun using language from GrapeSEED Unit 7 Song “Keep Warm, Please!” during a break-off lesson and activity!

Ms. Manzella and the children talked about the kinds of things they wear on their bodies in different types of weather. Then, students chose their favorite item to wear and wrote about when they would wear it. Their drawings turned out adorable!

This is just one of many, creative ways teachers can extend language and concepts from GrapeSEED to other lessons and allow students to make a connection to their own individual experiences and interests.

Are you extending language and concepts from GrapeSEED to help your young students grow in oral language and literacy development? We’d love to learn and see how. Send us a description and picture to be featured in the next GrapeSEED newsletter or on GrapeSEED social media!
