Notes from the 2015 National Reading Recovery Conference
Published: February 16, 2015
I’ve attended a lot of conferences in my career, but this was my first time attending the National Reading Recovery & K-6 Literacy Conference. Quite honestly, I was not sure what to expect. Needless to say, the conference surpassed my expectations. Columbus is my kind of town!
GrapeSEED had the opportunity to have a booth in the Exhibitor Hall to share our information with the attendees of the conference. This is where I was able to spend the majority of my time while in Columbus, Ohio. It was truly a wonderful opportunity to learn.
Every place I turned, I heard or had great conversations between educators and our staff about the needs in education. Whether you were a Reading Recovery teacher, an ELL teacher, an Intervention Specialist, a general education teacher, or an Administrator, we all had something in common: a need to help our struggling students.
I loved being able to share my experiences and success of using GrapeSEED in my previous district with those who stopped by the booth.
The excitement at our booth was overwhelming. Teachers and administrators shared how GrapeSEED was what they needed. It has all of the components they are looking for in a program, songs, action activities, chants, stories, poems, and big books. I look forward to being able to share more information about GrapeSEED with the schools who stopped by the booth.
